Now that things have calmed down here in Boston following my eight days of helping out the news team on the Boston Marathon bombing coverage, I’ll put up some images from the last couple of weeks that include some new ideas, taking some chances, and a lot of light chasing!

Enjoy…

For the first time since I started shooting, I covered Opening Day that wasn’t in Pittsburgh. The backdrop was still magical. The photographer’s covering it all great people. Plenty of ‘what if’s’ from a team that didn’t make the playoffs last year. And with Joel Hanrahan, Nate McLouth, Pedro Ciriaco, Steve Pearce, and John Russell in the building you would’ve thought I was at PNC Park.

But this is a much different team than last year with a lot to prove. If Monday is any small sample of what is to come, I expect to see some really great pitching and a ton of runs scored between the big bats and the small ball that’s played by this eclectic Red Sox team.

And most importantly, the sun is out and it’s warm! I love you TD Garden but this fresh air is much needed. Here’s to another exciting year of baseball and enjoy the images!

The Yankees are fighting for first place and the Red Sox are trying to give their fans a show and end the season on a good note. Regardless of their records, it’s always a fun series to photograph. Here are my favorite images from this past three game series:

BOSTON, MA – AUGUST 23: Vernon Wells #10 of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim stands in left field in front of the scoreboard in the 10th inning during the game on August 23, 2012 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

I’ve never seen so many lead changes in my life at a sporting event. The game between the Angels and the Red Sox was a back and forth slugfest that saw a total of 15 pitchers give up 27 runs over 10 innings in a game that lasted 4 hours 34 minutes. In the end, the Angels got the win, 14-13, and the sweep of the series.

I successfully made the 13 hour drive to Boston from Pittsburgh with all of my belongings on a 17 foot U-Haul that was also towing my car. Phew! Glad that’s over with…

After spending a day in NYC filling out some paperwork to officially become a member of the Getty team and visiting with college friends and fellow photographers, Coty Tarr, Ashlee Gray, and Danielle Anderson, I took the Amtrak back to Boston to start my first assignment – Yankees vs Red Sox.

Arguably the biggest rivalry in sports, the same series in New York City was my first as an intern with Getty Images/Sport in 2009, so it was only fitting that it was also my first series as a staff photographer Getty. I had a blast covering two out of the four games in the series – Friday and Sunday. It was really great to spend some time and meet the local photographers but just as great to catch up with the shooters from New York City who I haven’t seen in a few years.

Here are some images of mine from my first series of many at the historical Fenway Park. I’m also quite proud to say that I am part of the Getty Images team and I hope to be here for quite some time!

Enjoy!
